Our Meeting Places

(A more detailed history of Bethesda will be added later)

Bethesda Free Church has its roots firmly grounded as a work of the Lord. Beginning in its present location in Tatham Street, Sunderland, the building was soon filled and over flowing. The founding pastor and members had a fervant desire to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with their community and the world.

As opportunities came they started mission halls in different locations in the city to enable people from each community to hear the preaching of the Gospel. At one point Bethesda operated 5 or 6 halls in different locations around the city. Many hundreds attended services in the various locations and many went on to serve the Lord as missionaries all over the world.

To the present day many of those who were saved and grew up in the mission halls attend Sunday morning services at Bethesda and then support the halls Sunday evening and during midweek services.

Currently Bethesda has two halls, Hallgarth on Bright Street and Ford Estate on Flodden Road. You can find more about the halls service times and history by following the links on the menu.
